I was, if anything, over-careful about setting up the meeting. I made sure we met in a bar where people know me, but far enough away from my usual haunts for him not to harass me if things go wrong.

I even got a colleague to ring me while I was on the date – just in case I needed a ‘get out clause’. that’s me, super-cautious, lol!

As it turned out, I needn’t have worried. The guy was as nervous as me. And meeting a gay man online was as new to him as it was to me – at least, that’s what he said anyway.

He turned out to be a pretty cool guy, once we both relaxed and began talking.

But I don’t know yet if there’s any chemistry between us – the situation was a little too tense for that.

We’re meeting up again in a few days time. This time in his neck of the woods. So maybe we’ll have more chance to sort out whether we ‘gell’ at that time.

I’m hoping this online dating thing is going to work out ok. Even if this guy isn’t the one, things are starting to look a lot more positive.

Now, I may be gay but I still appreciate a good looking woman when I see one, and this girl is definitely that.

It’s times like this I almost wish I was straight (is it allowed to admit that…?). It seems I have the kind of looks that attract good looking girls more than good looking guys.

Perhaps that’s the problem. Many gay men don’t hit on me because they really do believe I’m straight.

I need to develop some sort of ‘sign’ gay men can pick up on. Fuck knows what it would be though!

We have a fair bit in common. We have similar jobs, we seem to have similar attitudes to life (if you can tell that from an online conversation…) and he’s a bottom, so sexually he matches me well.

But I’m still not sure. Finding a guy online is still very new to me. I want to be sure I’m not getting set up in any way.

The only way to do that, though is to meet him and find out.  I guess…lol!

I went back to the bar for a quick mid-day beer (mainly to see him, I’ll admit) and the guy was on his mobile talking to his partner. And you could tell it’s a strong thing, the way they were talking to each other.

So I stayed for one more beer (I didn’t want to make it appear too obvious I had come in just to see him) and we chatted some more.

He showed me a photo of his partner. The guy’s a real hunk. I can see why he’d want to keep the relationship long term.

Having said that, the bar guy’s partner lives a plane ride away, so one day there could be an opening here…

But for now I’m back on the search, I guess.

He has just moved into the area and is working at the bar while he looks around for work in his line of business (he’s a computer tech).

I found all this out because we got to talking right away. I really think there’s some chemistry between us. It’s so easy to talk to him and we do seem to have quite a few things in common.

He’s a straight-looking guy like me, but he’s gay. I knew that even before he told me, by the way he was eyeing me up.

Yeah, I really think we hit it off, but it’s early days. And I’m still looking though. Just in case…

This wasn’t particularly hard to do as I’m an avid reader. Anything from thrillers to biographies to non-fiction; if it’s in print I’ll give it a try.

But this was hard graft. Not because the books I read weren’t interesting (they all were, for different reasons), but because I set myself the task of ‘reviewing them’, lol!

So, instead of skim-reading and thinking ‘that’s good..that’s crap’ etc., I was taking notes. I haven’t taken notes on a book since uni and now I’ve remembered why I always ran out of highlighter pens.

Anyway, this is really a post to say that I have made a page here called (believe it or not…) Gay Dating Books.  So for any passers by who want to read my reviews. I hope you find them useful.

Some of those books certainly gave me plenty to think about!

I’ve had a look at quite a few different sites. Several seem okay, but others you can tell they’ve set up the site without much thought. After all, some of you may be interested in dating a hunk who looks so incredibly awesome he’s almost too good to be true, but you then may wonder what the fuck he’s doing on a gay dating site in the first place!

So I’ve kept clear (for now anyway) of sites where the guys look a bit too good to be true and gone for the ones where the guys look real. I’m looking for real gay men. Guys who actually want to find a sex partner, so I think this is the best way.

Anyway, for now at least I have chosen what I feel is the best gay dating site to suit my needs. The guys there are hot; there’s plenty of choice; and it looks like I will actually be able to find a gay guy who lives near enough to me to make meeting up with him relatively simple.

All I had to do was give my username and email address to check out the profiles and see where I go from there.

But having said all that, I’m new to this online gay dating thing, so I’m going to take things slowly and carefully and report back.

I don’t know what it is that makes nearly everyone think I’m straight. I’m an ordinary type of guy, it’s true. I don’t have any stereotypical gay traits (but then, neither do most gay men I know). I’m just your average Joe.

Women seem to like me just fine. In fact, some just refuse to believe that I’m gay and take me telling them so as a personla rejection of some kind. But I guess that’s their problem, not mine.

And with women, who the fuck can get into their minds anyway? Most of them seem to be more attracted to me when I tell them I’m gay. Go figure!

But on the downside, being gay and looking straight can be a disadvantage when it comes to finding gay men for sex or a relationship or whatever.

And I think I may be missing out on a few hotties because I don’t give out the right vibe.  Whatever that is…

Watching guys on webcams is one way I have found to get some interraction with gay men without going through the whole gay dating scene. It’s not perfect, for sure, but all interraction is good, right?

I found this site a while back. You can check out the guys there and if you like what you see, you can watch them for free. And if you really like one or more of them, you can pay for a private session.

Now I’m not an idiot. I know I could spend a fair few bucks on gay webcams if I was so inclined. But I think I’m relatively smart. I wait until I know a particular guy is online and pay for a private session with him. It’s well worth it as he’s hot and sexy and we get some real interraction going. It’s cool.

This guy will do an awful lot of stuff if you ask him privately. I guess it’s because he knows he’s safe behind his cam, but it still turns me on.

Would I like to date a webcam guy? Well sure! Those guys who work well on webcams know just what it takes to please you, so in the sack they should be dam hot!

But for now, I’m happy just watching my favorite guy live while I prepare myself for finding gay men to date.

Well-defined muscles, but not OTT, tall and toned and… just looking at him makes me melt!

The only thing is, this hot guy is straight…. but there’s no harm in looking, is there?

Now, if I could find a hunk like this to date I’d be in heaven. Does that make me shallow…?

Probably. I guess I’d better work on that (or at least try to hide it, lol!), before I go full tilt into finding gay men to hook up with.
